In England from 31st March 2025, new legislation will mean businesses with more than 10 full-time employees must separate 'recycling relevant waste' prior to collection for processing off site.
Business must separate waste into a minimum of three streams prior to collection:
General Waste
Refuse Sack: Black Refuse Sack
General Waste Bins can be used with Black Refuse Sacks and include any non-recyclable items.
Mixed Dry Recycling
(Glass | Plastic | Metal | Paper & Card)
Refuse Sack: Clear Refuse Sack for Identifiability
Minimum requirement is for mixed dry recycling to be separated from General Waste. Mixed Dry Recycling can be sorted into one 'Dry Mixed Recycling' bin or separated further into Glass, Plastic, Metal, Paper & Card depending on council and recycling bin choice.
Food Waste
Refuse Sack: Compostable / Degradable Refuse Sack
From March 2027: Plastic Film.
